BALLARD, WASHINGTON

Ballard is a vibrant community with a deep Scandinavian history, booming maritime industry, and hip indie culture. You will find beautiful architecture from the turn of the century; a Nordic Heritage Museum, sandy beaches, a popular farmer’s market, a hot Foodie and nightlife scene, and some of the best microbreweries in the city. Because of all of this, it is now one of the most rapidly growing neighborhoods in Seattle.

During the summer, people flock to Golden Gardens, a beach and park on the western edge of Ballard. There are gorgeous views of the Olympic mountains, picnic amenities, a dog park and it is a great place to enjoy the summer sunshine. Another popular spot is the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, also known as the Ballard Locks, where the water levels are changed, allowing boats easy passage from Puget Sound to Lake Washington.
